45 Beautiful Bedroom Ideas Bedroom Decor Ideas

gorgeous bedroom design

In the rustic bedroom above, a modern beige wall smooths out the vibe while a mix of old and new patterns create harmony with different scales. 'When storage is not needed for the nightstands, I go for light tables or nesting tables to provide more air under furniture pieces, as large king-size beds are heavy in visual weight,' the designer adds. Or maybe you're after more personality and it's pretty prints and patterns that make you feel calm and happy; whatever bedroom idea you go for, make it personal to you. The trick here is keeping the accents to just two, ideally complementary colors. This will prevent you from getting into too much of a twist trying to balance a full rainbow, and result in simple bedroom ideas that are calming rather than busy. To keep them contemporary, go gray – but pick a shade that feels cozy enough for gray bedrooms.

The Neutral Bedroom

Bedrooms are the most personal spaces in your home, so if you’re keen to showcase as much personality as possible there are plenty of boho bedroom ideas that leave ample room for flair. Awash in relaxed materials like rattan alongside woven textiles, patterned fabrics, and statement pieces of furniture, the boho vibe is certainly out of the box. Ticking all of the boxes, the bedroom above offers a bohemian spirit with an unmistakable dose of tranquility. “We designed the custom rattan, walnut and travertine bed as a focal piece of the room.” With its muted palette but clever use of shapes this is another example of why beige bedroom ideas are never bland. Bedroom wallpaper ideas don't have to be garish and even one with a heavy repeat pattern can still be calm and serene; perfect in a bedroom.

Make an understated statement with a beautiful bed

One thing Ireland knew for certain was that anything minimalistic had to be of the highest quality. “John Pawson once told me that, and I’ve always believed that it’s better to make things locally,” she says. She tapped several Los Angeles artisans for furniture, lanterns, ceramics, fabrics, and rugs. Christopher Farr designed many of the rugs, and the pottery was custom made by a professor of ceramics at the University of California, Los Angeles, whom Ireland had discovered at the Santa Monica flea market.

Mix Patterns

For H&G, she writes features about interior design – and is known for having an eye for a beautiful room. ‘I love this color scheme of teal, blush pink and mustard,’ says Patricia Gibbons, design team at Sofa.com. ‘A graphic ceiling of hand-painted stripes adds a wonderful design dynamic to a room otherwise painted in a restful green,’ says Patrick O’Donnell, Brand Ambassador at Farrow & Ball. Revamp your bedroom with these inspiring colour combinations, stylish furniture ideas and beautiful finishing touches.

Cathie Hong Interiors filled this bedroom with calming tones reminiscent of Earth's beauty. If you love the look of an all-white bedroom but crave more color, this is the next best thing. This room, designed by Deena Knight Designs, includes matching black iron twin beds and fringed stools, perfect for a kid's room or a guest room. Primary colors (blue, yellow, red) are a great starting point for your design.

Modern Conveniences

Decorist designer Carmen René Smith created a maximalist haven for her client. With so much attention on the bed, adding a seating area—even just a single chair tucked into a corner—can turn your bedroom into a dynamic, multi-purpose space. The point is to create a separate spot for rest, allowing you to sit for a cup of coffee or tie your shoes (if you’re lucky, you might even have space to squeeze a small sofa for some serious lounging).

A bespoke panelled headboard cleverly opens out to enclose the bed or folds flat against the wall. Dark grey walls with a dusky pink velvet bed, combined with rich timber tones and brass finishes on furniture, make for a wonderfully dramatic and sophisticated bedroom. The bay window offers an abundance of natural light and the indoor hanging egg chair provides an alternative spot to sit. This Aspen getaway by designer Victorian Hagan brings the environment inside with a textural white and neutral color palette applied to the carpet, chairs, bed, and even lampshades. In order for it to feel fresh, follow Proem Studio's lead and mix different textures and shapes since you're limited on your color palette. Yes, bedrooms should be zen and calming, but that doesn't mean they have to be all-white.

If you have been blessed with lots of natural light in your bedroom, make the most of it. Pick out bedroom curtain ideas that aren't going to block out any light during the day — lace, net, light linen, all of these sheer fabrics would work for this bedroom idea. You can add a discreet roller blind underneath or a heavier curtain over the top to keep out light during the night. Pick a punchy color (here, it's pink but it could just as easily be yellow), but stick to natural shades and use a lot of neutrals beneath them to show them off without them feeling garish. Like in this feminine bedroom above, a modern take on summery country chic we love.

The warmer and muted neutrals and natural hues are perfect for creating a comforting environment in spaces where we want to relax,’ explains Ruth Mottershead, creative director at Little Greene. Designer Mark D. Sikes is the mastermind behind this beautiful buttercream and baby blue master bedroom. The statement scallops that extend from the canopy to the hem of the bed linens.

Menu for Schaefer's Canal House in Chesapeake City, MD

schaefer's canal house maryland

Good and pleasant dock help (Olivia). A 2-3 knot current with an easy approach. Dock hands are very helpful. We overnighted on the face dock which are fixed-3 foot tide.

Dinner,

My only complaint has nothing to do with the marina. The restaurant has gone downhill. My guess is they have a new chef. It was prime rib ordered medium rare and arrived medium well. Then got chicken parmigiana.

Wheelchair accessible elevator,

There aren't any showers, but I didn't find that to be an issue. We had a really good experience here. The staff was super friendly and helpful and really went out of their way for us. The restaurant was great and you are a short dinghy ride to town on the other side of the canal. No showers, laundry or grocery nearby.

Great watching canal traffic. Be aware there are no showers or local stores. Current runs strong up to 2.5 knots. Good spot for waiting on the current and getting a great meal at the restaurant. Dock hands were great and very helpful.

(Olivia Marro, Leah Stubbs, Scott Seisler) Schaefer's is without question your #1 way point when transiting the C&D Canal. Staff was great - and knowledgeable of local conditions and setting lines for the 3+ foot tide swings. Restaurant next to dock was excellent.

schaefer's canal house maryland

Nice folks running the docks (inc their staff). However not a marina - mainly dockage for restaurant & bar (which we found convenient). Therefore, no dock restrooms or showers (bathrooms at restaurant). No stores of any kind nearby, although Steve offered to have staff give us a ride to a grocery store. The high outside dock in front of the restaurant prohibited us from getting on and off of the boat at low tide. The boat traffic both large and small, rocked us all night long. There is no bath house, so that is certainly a “con”.

Good food & drink, with easy access. We docked right along-side parallel to the canal. Easy access to water hose and electric hookup. The only draw-back is that there are no showers. Even a cold water outside rinse off shower would have been nice.

Staff wear masks,

The restaurant had a live band and the food was excellent. Very pleasant stay and great stop between Cape May and Annapolis. If a floating dock is preferred, the marina will accommodate. The available amenities of the docks, which are located outside of a restaurant and bar, are noted on the Snag-A-Slip profile. The marina does offer restrooms, but a bath house is not an available amenity. While Schaefer's Canal House is an awesome marina, they also have an amazing bar and restaurant attached to it that second to none.

This Maryland Restaurant Right On The Canal Is The Definition Of Dinner With A View

There are no shower facilities and the bathrooms are serviceable. Please note fuel dock is being renovating and will not be available until May. You’ve probably dined at a beach side restaurant, or perhaps a lake side restaurant, but how about canal side? You can do just that at this eatery in Maryland.

Very good prices at the dock and restaurant. Dockmaster and crew were excellent in meeting all our needs. Location much quieter than Chesapeake Inn.

Will be using the Marina on my return trip. Free docks on opposite shore were silted in. One is exposed to canal but very little canal traffic.

Always awkward if seen as a complainer. Tom was expert on getting us secured in swift currents. On site restaurant very convenient. Convenient spot to stop with a restaurant at your door.

Very friendly and competent Dock Master, Steve, guided us right into fuel dock and then around to out spot on the bulkhead. Despite passing ships, there was very little rocking from wakes. Restaurant was good and steps from the boat. The dock hands were excellent. Got tied up quickly and efficiently in the current.

And cracking jokes the whole time. We never encountered such a helpful friendly and funny dockside assistance Restaurant was very good along with the staff. And fun watching all the canal traffic. Definitely would come back.

Note that the dock has no cleats to which you can tie, you'll need to throw a clove hitch or something around the pilings. The dock hands are quite good about helping with line handling. Steven the Dock Master was amazing. He's very knowledgeable and even washed the water marks and filled our fenders when we got fuel. Passed out leaflets with all kind of info.

Nice people and the dock hands do a great job. I recommend using this marina when passing thru the C & D Canal. On our way from Cape May to Baltimore.

Current and pilings made for a rough night. The restaurant was lively and the food was good. As to the accommodations there is a substantial amount of current through the marina and the tidal change is roughly 3’.

Wheelchair accessible parking lot,

Tied up quickly and securely. Very helpful tie up assistance. Great help from Dockmaster and dockhand. The Army Corp had actually closed the C&D Canal due to fog. I contacted the Dockmaster and he called me when the Canal was open to traffic.

Liked it so much we stayed a second night. Quaint town and very nice restaurant. Steve and his team provide an excellent experience. The location is great and we got to see the swapping of pilots on a vehicle carrier ship right from our boat.

If you have tried the above and still do not see availability, the marina may be full for your dates or unable to accommodate your vessel size. The docks and power were very new and more than adequate. Dock hands were very helpful ,especially with their current and friendly. Steve, the Dockmaster, went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay. We will definitely stop here again. Nice for a quick stop especially with the shoaling at the entrance to the Anchorage across the canal. The owner and his son were polite and the facility was a perfect stopover.

Also a great walking and bike path if you're looking for a place to stretch your legs. A very convenient stop along the way. The person that helped us dock was excellent!

Once you see the following photos, you’ll want to head to this scenic and historic restaurant asap. It’s the definition of dinner with a view. Schaefer's Canal House menu has been digitised by Sirved. The menu for Schaefer's Canal House may have changed since the last user update.

Late-night food,

Enjoyed the bike trail and restaurant accommodations. Marina Staff are great but tug and barge traffic very challenging. Sign up to receive news, updates and exclusive offers direct to your inbox. Yes, Schaefer's Canal House has a kids menu, view their kids menu on Sirved.

With the marina only offering pilings that makes it tough to position bumpers for cushioning as the shifting current bounces the boat around. Lots of knocking throughout the night. If you’re looking for a fun spot to grab a bite and drink this is the place. If looking for a quiet night of sleep it’s not the best. This is a really nice joint.

Nice location with the restaurant and the dockmaster hours were very convenient for our 5p arrival. Only suggestion is to add showers to the facility. Please provide your ETA, if you will be needing fuel, and direction of approach in the Notes section at checkout. Note that the marina has both fixed and floating docks on site, however the floating docks do not offer shore power. A band was playing, dinner was being served along the docks, and after a quick shower on board, dinner on the dock was fantastic!

Much enjoyed the large bar/restaurant - good food and service. This is a restaurant with a dock that accepts transients, not a true marina. Note that they have fuel (gas and diesel), but no other amenities for transients (no pump-out/showers/laundry/after-hours toilets etc.). Those would be welcome additions that could lead to longer stays. Dealing with the currents in the canal and the huge concrete Chesapeake City Bridge support in the middle of the dock can be quite a challenge.

And many a loud speed boat takes advantage of the good fuel prices here. But the people are friendly and the area peaceful, with the restaurant offering decent food and beverage options. Overall a nice one night stop. Be prepared and time your canal transit and docking based on tides. Check AIS for commercial traffic before departing the dock.

Beyond design, marketing specialists usually require skills in data analytics, coding and written and verbal communication. They're savvy enough to spot a bad website a mile away, which is why more and more organizations will devote marketing dollars to help build out their digital presence. Web designers play a major role in this, as they help develop the pages, layouts, navigational design and graphics for company websites.

Popular Continuing Education Paths

Courses are taught by award-winning creative faculty using the most advanced technology available. These programs provide flexibility for working professionals or individuals with other commitments, giving them the chance to pursue advanced design education without attending physical classes. Learners can do self-paced learning, collaborate with peers online, and access lectures and coursework remotely. It’s best to research individual programs to evaluate how the school’s online learning program will be structured and how the internship and practical experience portion of the master’s program will work. An online master's in design program typically takes 18 to 30 months to complete, depending on the specific program requirements, the number of credits needed, and your course load. Online programs offer flexibility, allowing learners to complete coursework at their own pace, which can affect the overall timeline.

Sand sculpture is the practice of creating visual art by using wet sand and compaction. Sand artists or sculptors make use of buckets to fill with water, barber’s brush, paintbrushes, leveling tools, and more for sandcastle success. Most of these sculptors produce significant kinds of statues or reliefs and typically work at the beach. A food photographer has to pick the freshest and the best-looking food items. The challenge is to reveal the visual elements of the food as a means to stir the senses of smell and taste of viewers.

Design Frameworks: History & Methods

Alongside of focused studies in design, student personal interests can be explored through elective courses within the School of Design or across the University. Design is the driving force behind many cultural trends, behaviours and lifestyles, and by undertaking a design degree you’ll be the one shaping the future of these trends.
